In this blog we will cover weeks 1 through 25 of the development of Null Lights Sports - Baseball and Softball
Why weeks 1 through 25?
Null Lights Sports - Baseball and Softball development actually began in early 2017. We worked for about 6 months straight on it, using the HTC Vive and Steam VR for testing. We never had a chance to release it for various reasons, and it was put on hold for about 4 years. We now feel that the time is right to release the game!
A lot has changed since 2017 in VR development, so in the upcoming weeks we will be
- Get it work with Valve Index
- Upgrade it from Unity 5 to Unity 2020
- Upgrade to OpenXR
- Remove key registration checks since it will be released on steam
- Remove top scores since this will be an "offline" game
- Add pitcher profiles so you can save your pitcher once you "build" them
- Enable HDRP on Unity and make the graphics look better with better textures
- Better Lighting with HDRI lighting
- Use XR interaction kit instead of custom built move
- Organize Code
- Use new higher quality baseball and softball pitcher and animate them
Looks like we better get busy, see you next week :)
